***Climate change is happening, and it is happening now. Like no other international challenge before, climate change already impacts directly on every single human life - from the world’s poorest regions to the most developed countries. Lives are being claimed, homes destroyed, economies devastated and families uprooted.
This is why it is crucial that government representatives and officials recognize their responsibility and come up with an agreement on a post-Kyoto protocol in Copenhagen in December 2009.
It is the young generation’s present and future that is primarily at stake. It is OUR present and future that is at stake!
Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that we as young adults have our say as to how the international community should address this major global challenge.
The Global Humanitarian Forum, a Geneva based international organization personally led by Kofi Annan, will host its inaugural Youth Forum entitled Young Adults 4 New Results. 100 international young adults will be selected to search for new ideas and solutions for tackling the human impact of climate change. The role of young adults will be a primary focus.
From 17 – 19 June 2009, you will have the chance to engage actively in brainstorming and debate sessions, plenary discussions, and conference simulations. You will also have the opportunity to engage with a range of other leading young adults taking action in the field of climate change on a global level.
The most active and committed participants will be chosen to present the most brilliant and creative ideas at the Forum 2009 of the Global Humanitarian Forum, which unites leaders from across the global society – each summer in Geneva.
